How often and how much tip do you pay for house keeping staffs when you stay in hotel?

When I was staying at 3 star hotel in Waikiki for 7nights, I left gratitude of $10 on the night table only once before I checked out. My friend told me that tips should be paid every night. I am wondering how often and how much do you pay?

When I stayed 4 nights at a top notch hotel in Canada, I left a $15.00 tip on the night stand which I thought was reasonable.

i tip $2-5 a day…depending on how well they cleaned the room. so your tip was fine!!!!! whatever you feel comfortable with.

Really depends on the stars of the hotel and your choice. For your case, I would first have to say that you should tip every night, because there might be different maids cleaning each day, and maybe a dollar or two tip each day. But then again, it really depends on your choice and how much money you're willing to part with.

Depending on the services you received $1-3/night plus extra for special requests. It is customarily left at the end of your stay.

I always forget to leave something for them.

It never occurs to me because I like to keep my privacy and keep my belongings secure.

they really dont need a tip. i mean they get paid just like the rest of us that work. if you give them a tip, then they expect it every time you stay there again. but if you really want to give one, then i would say, leave it the last day you are staying there. it depends on how good a job they did and how long you stayed. it also depends on the stars of the hotel too. whatever you leave is fine, considering i think that most people dont even leave tips.

Why would you tip house keeping staff? Well, UNLESS they do something above and beyond, your expectations. Then, maybe I'd tip them.

You could also let their supervisor know about the good job they are doing. This costs you nothing, yet yields a similar result for the staff member.

$2 a day for every day you stay. If you make a huge mess then leave a $5 on the last day.

They are suppose to clean your room everyday, if they are and doing a good job, then 10 dollars a day would be a good tip. These jobs are very hard and pay very little money. So if they are doing their job well, i would tip well. If they are not doing the job well I would only tip a dollar or two just for the service of dumping trash and bringing towels. Good luck and God bless
